In the meeting on Wendesday those present designated Jim Cabness as our designated spokesperson to coordinate releases to the media. There was some additional discussion, without settlement, on whether approval would be required or suggested. Some feel any statements or news releases to the media must be approved by Jim. Others believe this is too constraining on a coalition. Some feel Groups composing the coalition may release their own statements and news releases under their own letterhead with reference to their membership in the Texas Justice Coalition initiative to sunset the bar. However; It is a good idea to let Jim know in advance what you are doing before you do it and consult with him on whether an independent release is advisable. As a voluntary coalition the final decision, of course, remains with each member of the coalition as an equal partner.
